About DigitalMSDS

What is DigitalMSDS?

DigitalMSDS is a free, searchable database of chemical safety information. We aggregate data from authoritative U.S. regulatory sources to provide quick access to GHS hazard classifications, occupational exposure limits, and physical properties for over 249,000 chemicals.

Data Sources

SourceData ProvidedRecords
PubChem (NIH/NLM) GHS classifications: pictograms, signal words, hazard statements (H-codes), precautionary statements (P-codes) 249,789
OSHA Chemical Database Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL), physical properties, NFPA ratings, synonyms 831
NIOSH Pocket Guide (NPG) Recommended Exposure Limits (REL), STEL, IDLH, carcinogen flags 681
NIOSH NPG Health Effects Target organ classifications, health effect basis 677

How We Match Data

Chemical records are linked across databases using CAS Registry Numbers when available, and by chemical name matching otherwise. Not all chemicals have complete data from every source — fields are populated when data is available from the respective agency.

Disclaimer

The information on DigitalMSDS is compiled from publicly available regulatory databases for informational and reference purposes only.

This database does not replace the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for any specific product. SDS documents contain product-specific safety information including first aid measures, firefighting procedures, handling and storage guidelines, and emergency contact information that this database does not provide.

Always consult the official SDS from your chemical supplier before handling, storing, or transporting any chemical substance.
